Youth Festival Rockhampton

Post  laine.ba on Thu Oct 16, 2008 1:20 pm

Hey guys, Just wanted to officially invite everyone to attend the Vinnies Social Justice Youth Festival being held in Rockhapotn on the 1st Nov. The Rockhampton Youth Conference are conducting the festival with the concept of a NO MONEY DAY so that young people who cannot normally attend festive events due to financial hardship can have a afternoon and evening of entertainment and activites. The main aim of the day however is to connect the youth of Rockhampton with St Vincent de Paul Society in a positive and creative atmosphere, while bring awareness to social justice issues in our community. We have an Indigenous awareness tent, homelessness and housing crisis awareness display, Social Justice guest speaker, Youth Suicide awareness tent, young women at risk display, Women's Shelter repesentative will be accepting the "Personal PAcks" that the Youth Conference have raised money to purchase for 11 Women housed at the Shelter.

We envisage 200 youth attending although the amount of networking we have happening now this could blow out to 500. Not sure if that is good or bad for our first endeavour, but it certainly is not boring. Keep up the good work talk soon.
God is our source we lack nothing. Laine
